Abstract

The data consist of ten focus group interviews of unemployed persons and counsellors participating in the priority axis 5 projects coordinated by the Sokra project of the National Institute for Health and Welfare and funded by the European Social Fund. The goal of the projects was to promote the inclusion of people who were at risk of social exclusion, combat poverty and improve the participants' ability to work. There were 3-10 people in each group interview.

The interviews covered the participants' future prospects, positive experiences and perceptions of control over their own lives. Meaningful work, communities, sense of belonging and need for support were also discussed.

Background information included interview place and date, and the gender and age of the interviewee.

The dataset is only available in Finnish.

Non-probability: Availability

All project staff members of priority axis 5 projects were notified about the focus group interviews; the first five projects were contacted in early 2016 and the subsequent five projects in late 2016. The notification contained information about how the study would proceed and requested the project staff to gauge willingness to participate. A total of 14 projects were reached, ten of which were interested in participating. The interviews were conducted based on the interest of the participants.

Completeness of Data and Restrictions

The researcher anonymised the data following the archive's instructions. The names of interviewees and third parties, place names and names of organisations were removed from the data. The anonymisation was examined and further supplemented at FSD. The anonymisation by the researcher is marked in the data with square brackets and the anonymisation by FSD with double square brackets.

Citation Requirement
