Abstract

The survey charted Finnish attitudes towards alcohol consumption and various alcohol political measures with the help of 14 questions.

Questions covered, for example, views on the level of alcohol consumption in Finland, attitudes of Finns towards alcohol use, alcohol duty, sale of alcohol, drink driving limit, alcohol advertising, participation of alcohol industry in preparing alcohol-related laws and acts, and insecurity caused by the behaviour of drunk people.

Background variables included, among others, the respondent's gender, age, education, economic activity and occupational status, household composition, economic activity and occupational status of the household head, employment status, household size, gross annual income of the household, party choice in the previous parliamentary elections as well as region and major region of residence.

Probability: Multistage

Multistage stratified sampling. The survey was conducted as TNS Gallup's telephone omnibus survey. The sample received from the Population Register Centre was divided into quotas according to the respondents' age, gender and municipality of residence. In every household, the person who met the conditions established by the quotas (i.e. gender and age) was interviewed. Half of the interview calls were made to mobile phone numbers. Altogether 1,003 people responded.
