Abstract

The values and attitudes of the Finns in 1990 were studied in the survey. On the basis of various propositions the respondents were asked about their attitude towards internationalisation in general, and its effects in Finland on trade and other forms of co-operation with different regions, on chances of success of various Finnish fields of production, on European integration with its impacts, on foreigners, on the future of Finnishness, on the atmosphere of the country, on economic growth, on environmental questions, on work life, on functioning of the political system, and on use of power in society.

Background variables included the respondent's gender, age, marital status, size of municipality of residence, province of residence, professional group, basic and vocational education, membership in a trade union organisation, functions in the public or private sector, field of activity in working life, party R would vote for in parliamentary elections, and social class.
